Strain Integrity

As described by Broken Coast, “Quadra (Headstash) is an exceptional strain with a perfect combination of aroma, flavour, and appearance. This strain produces stunningly beautiful and exceptionally dense, frosty purple flowers. With a funky kush undertone and notes of mandarin zest, it tastes as good as it looks. A true ‘quad’, in every respect, this strain deserves every superlative we can throw at it.

Headstash according to Karma Genetics, “An indica-dominant strain with a complex genetic profile. Headstash clinched 1st prize in the Best Indica category at the 2015 Amsterdam Elite Cup. Derived from a three-way cross of the immensely popular Girl Scout Cookies, Cannarado’s Cherrie Pie and a KarmaRado OG male, Karma Genetics then felt that the strain could use some more OG Kush infuence, so they spliced the genetics with their flagship Biker Kush to create Headstash. ”

Note: Content was changed because it appears the description was wrong.  On the removed erroneous description, we had just copy and paste past Broken Coast’s description of Quadra as Headband.  We caught this error as we were doing a review on Grail’s Headband (September 16, 2019) and the current Broken Coast description is now Headstash.  There is very little information on Headstash other than what is available from Karma Genetics, the breeder.

Sample from the Sunshine Coast?

The Sunshine Coast is one of the most prolific growing region in North America birthing legendary strains like Timewarp, the first of the high test strains.  Broken Coast with strains like Quadra, Galiano and Keats are all named after local Islands to commemorate the rich past of the region.   We review this with great anticipation.

Despite the flowers being very dry, it had a fragrant scent (funky kush with slight citrus and diesel overtones, indeed).  The effects can be felt almost immediately after the second or third inhalation.  Body high is immediate and it’s a relaxing body high.    It is not a lethargic body high but more vitalizing body high.  The Headstash effects were on point.

We tried this strain over a variety of conditions and maximum effects are more achievable at night time.  This strain excels when used at the end of a hard day’s work.  Turn the lights down or off and the music up and kick back for a lazy invigorating high.  This is not a strain to walk the dog.  It is a strain to chill and recharge your body and mind.  Music has never sounded better.

The intensity is not over the top but intense enough for daily users to enjoy.  For novice, start slow.  The duration is two hours with the first hour experiencing the more intense effects of headbanding and body high.  Being an Indica, there is no anxiety.  Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what getting “high” is all about.   It is not just a plant anybody can grow.

Conclusion

Quadra by Broken Coast

While it was disappointing to find the flowers bone dry, the fragrant scent remaining only serve to ignite our imagination of what it was.  The high, however, meet our expectations of a quality product.  The strain effects were expressed with intensity and were spot on.  A good quality flower delivers multiple distinct effects with intensity.  Quadra achieves this with a high-medium intensity.

Broken Coast has wet our appetite for the rest of their products.  True to their roots they have only a few strains, which are good enough to be “go to strains.”  Go to strains are what everyday users refer to as their favourite and staple herb.  A daily user will have 4 or 5 strains that are “go to strains” and they will always have it on hand.  Based on Stats Canada recent consumption publication, it appears 4% of Canadians are daily users who spends over $250 last quarter.  This small group of daily cannabis consumers drive the market and their product acceptance is success.  Well done Broken Coast!
