Strain Integrity
According to Broken Coast, ” Galiano is an sativa-dominant strain with roots in the Northern Lights variety. Galiano’s frosty, highly textured buds break up to release a complex terpene profile. Grounded by earthy, mocha notes, it exhibits a subtle natural sweetness on the exhale, with a light, clean finish. ”
Galiano is Broken Coast’s version of Northern Lights. According to Leafly, ” Northern Lights stands among the most famous strains of all time, a pure indica cherished for its resinous buds, fast flowering, and resilience during growth. Itself a descendant of indigenous Afghani and Thai landrace strains, Northern Lights has given rise to famous hybrids like Shiva Skunk and Super Silver Haze.
Pungently sweet, spicy aromas radiate from the crystal-coated buds, which sometimes reveal themselves in hues of purple. Northern Lights’ psychoactive effects settle in firmly throughout the body, relaxing muscles and pacifying the mind in dreamy euphoria. Comfortable laziness allows patients to relieve pain and sleeplessness, while its mellow contentment roots out depression and stress. ”
This is how it’s done!
More than not, LPs are promoting their brand strain, which is some variation of classics. Broken Coast promote brands like Quadra (Headband) and Galiano (Northern Lights). This is how it is done. The rendition of Headband and Northern Lights are best of class of these strains.
In a joint, it is a relatively smooth flavourful smoke with hints for berries and spice. Galiano starts slow and the climb last for the first 15 minutes after inhalation. You feel the body relaxation immediately with a functional body high compared to a full heavy indica body high where walking is a chore. If you are stressed, this will help alleviate your stress. Happiness and euphoria are well expressed as your high builds. By 15 minutes, you will hit peak cruising altitude.
Initially, mental alertness and clarity is good, which makes it useful for creative projects. The indica heritage, however, reduces the energy level and therefore the best use is just chilling with creative thoughts. We find this strain to be great for solitude activity like chilling listening to music. Watching TV is a bit too demanding and takes away from the high. The mental alertness and clarity does not last as the high progress the indica sleepiness creeps in creating a haze. This variation of Northern Lights is stronger as evident by hints of indica scent.
Our test is base on a 0.20 to 0.25 g dosage or joint. We found that Galiano scales very nicely. Increase dosage equates to increase intensity and effects. At higher dosage, psychedelic effects are present. Your brain cycle kicks up and your head can literally feel the presence of Northern Lights buzzing. OK, maybe it is not Northern Lights but your brain tingles or crackles. Let the evening festivities begin feeling.
The duration of the high is two hours but what made it stood out is the first hour is a solid flat line at peak level for an hour. This is our mark for a good quality product.
Conclusion
Galiano by Broken Coast
The quality of the product is obvious with the opening of the package. For 3.5 grams, the small black plastic canister was full to the top with solid buds. It is dry like 95% of the LPs’s products. But, it had a wonderful fragrance. Compare this with an Edison where there are stalks and shakes! You can tell thought were put into picking the right buds to meet the 3.5 grams. Everything about the product and the way it was packaged was dripping with “Class.”
Quality: 8.4
Intensity: 8.2
Duration: 8.2
Total: 8.3
Cost: $48 for 3.5 grams
This is an end of the day strain. It is best used to relax and chill listening to some music.
Thank you for the article. My name is Aimee and I am the client services supervisor for Broken Coast Cannabis.I just wanted to clarify a few things about the article, namely the strain genetics of both Quadra and Gabriola. These are both proprietary strains to Broken Coast. Quadra is a strain called Headstash and Gabriola is a strain called Frost Monster. Gabriola does not have any genetic similarities to Northern Lights. Both of these strains are specific to us here at Broken Coast.
Indeed. Thank you for pointing out the difference. Title will be changed shortly to Galiano, which is Northern Lights specific to Broken Coast..
