Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, “DNA Genetics developed Chocolope by crossing Chocolate Thai with Cannalope Haze to create their homage to the Chocolate strains of the 1980s. The hefty sativa buds give earthy, sweet coffee flavors that provide a dreamy, cerebral effect. Consumers report a strong, euphoric mental shift that is great when coping with depression or stress.”
From the OCS website, “Chocolope from Whistler Cannabis Co. is a sativa-dominant strain with strong THC potency potential, grown indoors in British Columbia under LED lighting. Its main terpene is terpinolene (also found in apples, cumin, lilac, tea tree oil and conifers) ….”
The product arrived with a Boveda 58 humidity control pack. The fragrance is sweet and the buds are fresh. We have tried several strains from Whistler Cannabis, or Whistler Medical, and there is a consistency to the fragrance of their fresh products. While the fragrance is enough for someone to determine if it’s indica or sativa, the fragrance is not over powering and threatens to envelope the entire building every time you open the buds for consumption. The buds are cured perfectly.
Wins the “First one for the day ” slot!
We believe like the all important breakfast, the first puff of the day is also the most important because it sets you up for the rest of the day. Folks, we have found that candidate and it’s Chocolope from Whistler Cannabis.
This is a slow creeper. The high starts real slow and at the ten minute mark you begin to feel the uplift and lightness of mind. The uplift emerges as you can sense tingling and growing sense of excitement not unlike the beginning of a roller coaster ride … that sense of excitement building. It’s mild and not something that should cause anxiety. The real take off starts at the 15 to 25 minute mark where you will reach the cruising altitude and enjoy all the benefits of this strain.
Time dilation will make the first hour feels like two hours have gone by. We finally tuned into the happy and uplift profile of this strain, which lasts for hours after inhalation. For us, the benefits is reduced desire to get high again because we feel relaxed, happy and content. The strain does not blow you out of the water but it sets you up nicely to deal with all the day’s mundane chores with a smile on your face.
The Leafly description is exactly what you should be experiencing. This is a pure Sativa and it is really hard to be depressed on this stuff. Honestly, this review is being written after half a dozen test. Initially, we were not impressed. We missed the strain strengths, which is happiness and the uplift. We didn’t dislike it but we weren’t too impressed. But, this was the strain that would be on our mind when we want to have that first high of the day. After the 3rd day, we wanted Chocolope to start the day, everyday.
It is hard to find a strain that can get you going on the right foot everyday and it has zero negative effect like tiredness. At the end of the high, you feel relax and happy and content.
Conclusion
Chocolope by Whistler Cannabis
The pricing is obviously ridiculous. Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp. (WMMC) produces the Whistler Cannabis brand, which is their recreational line. You can get it at half the price as a WMMC patient, which is what we did after our review of Sour Jack. We have tried over 65% of WMMC products and Chocolope and Sour Jack are some of their best buds in our opinion. WMMC is putting their best buds forward in the recreational market.
At 16.6% THC content, this is a mid-range THC bud. The smoke is very smooth. We believe this is good for novice to the hard core consumers because the high is stress reliving. The use is good for a broad range of day time activities.

The cannabis market is beginning to unfold as we expect in terms of market segmentation. The broad cannabis consumer economic background supports the broad quality and pricing of the cannabis in the retail market. You have low cost products from Edison and it is a lower quality product. If Edison occupies the low end of the market, the Tweed, Emerald Health, SYMBL and WEEDMD occupies the mid range. Broken Coast and WMMC occupies the high end of the market in terms of product quality. This is the world as we know it with beer or wine and it is also unfolding in a similar fashion in the cannabis market.
As it is becoming clearer why we review cannabis, we review because we need to know the quality of the product so we can assess the investment potential of these LPs. This is the time to get the work done. Until last year Oct 17, 2018, we have no idea who these LPs are and how capable they are in executing the business. We now know who they are and how good they are in producing cannabis.
Unfortunately, this is an Aurora subsidiary. We don’t really like the cannabis big boys and we only trade around their stock prices. We own Organigram for the run up to $10 and now we are out. We really dislike Edison products but took advantage of the pricing discrepancies. We do hold the smaller players that are pure plays and we like their products for long term appreciation.
We are top quartile investing professionals with experience managing $500 to $750 million small caps portfolios. We wanted to create a website to help people take advantage of this opportunity but our trading activities have taken up almost all our time. While there are complex economic and financial models that we use to evaluate investments, investing begins with evaluating the products because good business is built on good product or service.
Hello
Is the aurora chocolope from sqdc coming from Whistler Medical facilities? Wanted to know because product from Whistler Medical are organic, a plus for me if it is. Because not a lot of organic product at sqdc and I don’t understand this considering that in Valleyfield (Qc) they are building one of the largest facilities (TGOD) which is organic and their product is not at sqdc. Sorry for the inquisition in the end just looking for the best quality if possible organic ( notice gives me less allergies and headache) maybe just coincidence. Thank you very much
Jo
Hi Jo,
We contacted Aurora because your question was interesting. The strain at SQDC is unique to Quebec. Aurora response was “The Chocolope that we sell at the recreational stores is not the same as the Whistler one. Although Aurora does own Whistler Company, the genetics between those two are different.” Given the strain is different and it is from different facilities, we would advise to buy directly from WMMC. We really like TGOD but we have only tried one strain from TGOD. We have tried all the WMMC strains and it gives us the best experience. We always feel satisfied with a WMMC experience. If you are sensitive, do not discount your experience and change products accordingly. The only downside to WMMC is the cost.
