Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, “Kali Mist is known to deliver clear-headed, energetic effects that can verge on psychedelic at times. Despite having an unknown genetic history, Kali Mist is believed to have originated in the 1990s through crossing two sativa-dominant hybrids. This lightweight sativa is a perfect choice for consumers looking to maintain focus and productivity throughout their day.”
According to the OCS website, ” Horizon is a green sativa-dominant strain from Hexo with light orange hairs and strong THC potency potential. It’s a variety of Kali Mist and is grown in a hybrid greenhouse in Gatineau, Que. with custom feed solutions, then hand-manicured and sorted with a slow drying and curing process. This ensures the best possible flavour profile, which includes mango, lemon grass, hops and thyme from the myrcene, and black pepper, cloves and balsam from the caryophyllene in its terpene mix. ”
Hexo’s first review
Hexo’s first products were oil based concentrate products and this is our first test of Hexo’s flowers. We are very excited to test this strain because they are a major with a partner. They must be good, eh?
This batch of Kali Mist had a THC content of 15.15%. The buds were not overly dry with a floral fragrance but they were broken small buds. The buds are not dense. The smoke is smooth with some flavour. At $11.40 a gram, it is priced on the higher end.
The high starts with a light heady effect. The energy level rises quickly as you feel a lightness of self. Cerebral stimulation intensifies over the first half hour before leveling off. Intensity level is low as you can function perfectly well, which makes it perfect for doing any creative work. There is no debilitating time distortion.
The key expressions of Kali Mist are creative, happy, uplifted, energetic and relaxed. Hexo’s rendition hits all of these expressions in that order. Creative and happy is the prime effect with a good dose of energy. The uplifted feeling is constant and enveloping. This with the energy levels makes it perfect for working on projects.
While everything said have been positive, the overall intensity is at best medium around the 45 minute mark. The high starts to descend after an hour but the effects are still prominent.
Conclusion
Horizon (Kali Mist) by Hexo
Our overall impression of Horizon, or Kali Mist, is favourable. We wish LPs would stick to the original underlying strain names like Kali Mist. This allows us to evaluate the strain against a known metric. Originally, we had reviewed Horizon as a Jack Herer and that would have been a bad review because Jack Herer is very high in energy … you can start running a marathon on Jack Herer. But as Kali Mist, this is a perfect execution of the strain.
We would recommend this product for creative work. This is perfect for desktop and web publishers. It may even work for solving tough problems for a focus and creative mind. It is also great for socializing.
What it is not good for is when you want to get wasted in the daytime. You will not get wasted with Kali Mist. It is a weaker strain by genetics for debilitating effects. This is a work or socializing strain.

Hexo has a partnership with Molson Coors Canada to develop cannabis infused drinks. We are not particularly excited about the infused or edible products. Current extraction process have failed to fully capture all full profile of the different strains and as a result it is hard to differentiate between concentrates. While extraction techniques are improving, we are not there yet.
The best extraction we know is Whistler Medical Marijuana Corporation and their cannabis oil. The oil effects are all dependent on the strains as it should be. It is our opinion that cannabis strain is best enjoyed pure and infusing and concentrating serves to obfuscate the unique quality of the strain. For us, it is all about the strain.
Is this strain from Hexo good enough to put them into the trading bucket? We like the strain but it is not enough to make us a fan from an investment perspective. We do like FLWR based on their superior buds even though something can be said about their valuations.
