Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” Blue Dream, a sativa-dominant hybrid originating in California, has achieved legendary status among West Coast strains. Crossing Blueberry with Haze, Blue Dream balances full-body relaxation with gentle cerebral invigoration. Novice and veteran consumers alike enjoy the level effects of Blue Dream, which ease you gently into a calm euphoria.
With a sweet berry aroma redolent of its Blueberry parent, Blue Dream delivers swift symptom relief without heavy sedative effects. This makes Blue Dream a popular daytime medicine for patients treating pain, depression, nausea, and other ailments requiring a high THC strain. ”
According to Tantalus Labs, ” Our Sungrown Blue Dream is a sativa leaning strain that has strong roots in the history of BC cannabis. It’s a high THC, low CBD, strain that’s an evolution of a classic, Sungrown in Canada, celebrated worldwide. Dark green-grey in colour, the buds are structured like a lotus flower that’s been dusted by morning frost, with a terpene profile that is sweet and mellow. Slow-cured at a low temperature in our sustainable greenhouse facility to preserve the flavours of this uniquely BC cannabis strain. This process maintains the terpenes and enhances the flavours of sweet, blueberry syrup with hints of brown sugar and caramel. ”
Sungrown Blue Dream
This is our first review of Tantalus Labs, a British Columbia LP. Tantalus differentiation is “Sun” grown versus indoor artificial lighting. Packaged on Oct 16, 2019, the buds were still fluffy and squishy, filling the entire container. The scent is faint with hints of citrus and pepper. Our review was based on 0.26 grams with a THC of 13.19% (a bit on the low side). The taste is not harsh.
The high starts with a clear mind and feeling of happiness. There is a growing optimism and euphoria building over the first half hour. Time dilation is strong in this one. But, there is little short term memory lost effect, which makes this strain functional. The first hour will go by quickly as creativity and cerebral stimulation contribute to the dream like bliss. For 13.19% THC, Tantalus Blue Dream effects hit above it’s THC rating.
It is hard to recognize “Happiness” as a cannabis expression. Happiness is probably the least noticeable “High” effect. Unlike “Uplift” marked by increasing heartbeats, happiness has no such physical markers. Under the influence of Blue Dream, social interactions are inspiring and uplifting, which may be a function of happiness and a sense of well being. Blue Dream’s key expression is happiness, for us, followed by euphoria and uplift. This is exactly what you will get with Tantalus Labs … Blue Dream.
Activity pairing can include a broad range of activities around social gatherings and can also serve to get creative work done like writing, drawing, playing music or whatever your creative mind comes up with. If you lack a creative mind, that chore you have been putting off might be a job to tackle for Blue Dream. There’s energy to sustain productive activities. Tantalus Labs’ Blue Dream qualifies as a coffee replacement.
The Blue Dream experience last about three hours. After the second hour, the body can feel a bit tired but nothing overwhelming. There is also a slight decrease in focus creating a haze on the decent to the third hour. The entire 3 day review was very pleasant reminding us of why we liked Blue Dream so much in the past.
Conclusion
Blue Dream by Tantalus Labs
While we do not weight pricing much in our review, we cannot ignore pricing in this case. At $47.65 for 3.5 grams, the product would have to be something special. Tantalus’s Blue Dream is perfectly on point. But ….
THC: 13.19%
Quality: 8.0
Intensity: 7.8
Duration: 8.2
Total: 8.0
Cost: $47.65 for 3.5 grams
On an investment note, the Cannabis game “Meta,” is changing. We believe older strains like Blue Dream and White Widow are fighting for relevancy with consumers in today’s strain explosion. Newer strains have been further refined to produce broader and more intense expressions. Producing the best rendition of the older strains no longer guarantee commercial success. Consumers may prefer the newer strain effects and leave the older strains on the shelf no matter how good it is.
