Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” A strain for connoisseurs, the award-winning Tangerine Dream from the illustrious Barney’s Farm is a cross of G13, Afghani, and Neville’s A5 Haze. Its ability to knock out pain while increasing energy is what makes this strain so special. While too much Tangerine Dream may leave you stuck in the couch, this strain was crafted to meet the demands of medical patients. Uplifting and euphoric, it provides consumers with mental clarity while deeply relaxing muscles. ”
According to Wikileaf, ” Tangerine Dream smokers usually feel an immediate head rush that leaves the senses buzzing. What follows is a spreading feeling of warmth and emotional uplift that can be disorienting in the short term. Thought-provoking and cerebral, but still grounded, this strain offers a high that can be as productive or as lazy as users intend. This balance can tip towards a heavier body high in larger doses, however. Medically, Tangerine Dream has application for mood disorders. It can be a source of relief for those suffering from stress and anxiety. Its functional sense of focus may also be beneficial for users with attention deficit disorders. ”
From San Rafael ’71 website, ” Tangerine Dream is a high THC sativa strain highlighted by a citrus aroma along with an unmistakable, purple hue. This dried flower is made up of purple and green buds that are fairly dense, but break up easily when handled. ”
Da Best?
Tangerine Dreams by San Rafael’71 with THC of 72.06% at $39.95 for 0.30 gram is one of the most expensive distillate. According to True Terpenes, ” For reference a smaller volume purchase of botanical terpene profile will cost around $8-10/mL whereas a similar volume purchase for grade-A cannabis terpenes will cost closer to $150-$180/mL. A sizeable difference. ” The cost of terpene replenishment can be very expensive.
The taste has a slight herbal musk with hints of citrus and smooth. There is no candy sweet flavouring, which is an unnatural and distracting signature of low quality distillates. The “high” is uplifting, energetic, a bit of euphoria and creativity. There is a lot of mental activity coupled with time distortion and short term memory disassociation to create a distillate high. The net effect is not dissimilar to a Tangerine Dream flower experience.
Research is growing with recent Nature.com publication of a new finding here and translated by CNN. Understanding the complex interactions to produce powerful entourage effects in cannabis is an area of exciting research. Being curious and creative human beings, pharmacology allows us to try and divine the secret of creation and to design new cannabis profile by manipulating the builds blocks (cannabinoids and terpenes). Distillate is one of the products from these type of initiatives.
For us, vaping distillate produce a unique “high” profile. The distillate “high” profile is immediate, strong and steady. There is a clinical feel to the “high” in precision and intensity. There is no undulation in intensity as delivery is a smooth even flow. We advise caution to people who want to try this new form of cannabis. Keep track of how your lungs react to distillates. We are not created the same and some of us may have adverse reaction to distillates. This is new so be careful.
Tangerine Dreams distillate by San Rafael is a faithful replication of the flower experience … even the ending about two hours later gave us the Indica landing with body relaxation. Tangerine Dreams flower has a flow to the “high” experience, which is missing in distillate form. The flower experience is more electrifying and in a sense more edgy. The distillate delivers all the Tangerine Dreams’ expressions as expected with intense time distortion and short term memory disturbances, which we noted are typically associated with high THC levels. The bottom line is it is a good distillate version of Tangerine Dreams.
Conclusion
Tangerine Dreams Cart by San Rafael’71
We were hard on San Rafael’71 Tangerine Dream review considering it was one of our favourite strains. Whistler Medical had a better rendition of Tangerine Dreams. One of the stand out expression for Tangerine Dreams is energy. Both San Rafael and WMMC have high energy in their Tangerine Dreams flower. Energy is not a standout for this Tangerine Dreams distillate. Everything, however, is accounted for with a nice mixture of cannabis expressions to create an entertaining distillate high.

We are entering into a whole new world in distillates. We would not be surprised to see alchemist attempting to create new ‘high” experiences by mixing compounds instead of breeding new strains. It is also hard to put a rating on distillates. All distillates are strong and intense delivering all the medicinal effects. But, they also feel “neuter.” Today’s legal distillates are better in representing cannabis expressions but the “high” is missing the “magical musical notes.” As an example, our last flower review of FIGR’s Kali Mist gave us intense creativity hitting very “high notes marked by explosion of creative bubbles.” Hrm … difficult to attain those states of consciousness with distillates. But, distillate provides a worthy distraction alternative that is convenient. We believe an 8/10 rating is reasonable.
Concentrating chemicals is always dangerous. You can die or go blind drinking Moonshine. It is not that moonshine is dangerous, it is our ignorance that is dangerous. We recommend exercising “Caution” with distillates.
Thank you for your words of warning -RE: potential concerns with distillates. I have yet to get an honest opinion on this from the LPs and retail stores I have spoken to so this most helpful!
