Strain Integrity

According to Leafly, ” Congo by Ace Seeds is a sativa-dominant cross of two Congolese strains, Bangi Congo x Congo #3 and Pakistan Chitral Kush. This genetic combination offers consumers a clean, smile-inducing high that is brimming with positive energy. The mixture of stimulating sativa genetics and heady Kush genetics creates a blend of euphoric introspection and vigor. Enjoy Congo throughout the day to improve mood and stave off lethargy and depression.   ”

From Wikileaf, ” If you have a tough day ahead of you, try perking up with some Congo first and see how events unfold. Noted as a super positive strain that leaves you somewhat introspective, there’s no doubt that you’ll have a smile on your face as you engage in your daily routine. Users find they become more talkative and any draining tasks will feel much easier. Given that this strain lifts you up with a gentle amount of THC, you won’t have to worry about a heavy comedown, as sedation really isn’t a factor to consider here.

Note:  If you haven’t seen it, here is a 15 minute video on the search for the Congo strains.  The strain in the video has a lighter bud structure than our BC Organic Creek Congo, which has a denser structure.  We have tried Congo Black with a similar bud structure to the video’s Congo strain and the “high” is similar to this Simply Bare rendition.  The Congo strains from our experience have a pristine clear uplifting mental effect as their calling card.

Exotica from Roberts Creek

BC Organic Creek Congo by Simply Bare is a new strain from a new LP.  With WMMC heritage, Simply Bare also use living soil growing technique and a hybrid greenhouse strategy.  BC Organic Creek Congo was perfected in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.   At $15.99 a gram, this exoctic strain cost $55.95 for 3.5 grams with 15.536% THC.

The BC Organic Creek Congo’s “high” is a creeper.  The “high” starts about 5 minutes after inhalation and slowly builds from there.  At the 10 minute mark, we begin to feel growing euphoria as our mind starts to expand.  Almost 20 minutes after inhalation, we start to feel physical brain sensations (brain tingling) coupled with continuing increasing optimism and colourful thoughts.  Half an hour into the session, we hit our strides.  This is a clear pristine “high” with emotionally uplifting optimism and creative renderings.  We can’t help feeling really “happy” too.  Out test amount was 0.26 grams.

While we enjoyed our first session, we were not fully satisfied with the experience.  For the first time, we increased the dosage to 0.35 grams and this BC Organic Creek Congo scales very nicely.  The intensity was stronger and we left reality and entered Dreamland.  For 45 minutes, we were drifting with great clarity in a happy and dreamy state of mind.  We will be increasing dosage to see how “high” it scales ….

Activity pairing is best for day use.  BC Organic Creek Congo can be that perfect start to the day.  As we found, however, higher doses can be debilitating.   This is a strain that really stood out in terms of making us feel “happy.”  Consequently, we believe this might be really useful for those times we feel down and out … or just good for fighting cabin fever.

Conclusion

BC Organic Creek Congo by Simply Bare

The Congo Black strain from a West Coast grey market cultivar gave us a unique “high” experience, which we still remember vividly from a couple of years ago.  The Congo Black’s pristine clarity with a vibrant outlook on life stood out.  This BC Organic Creek Congo by Simply Bare delivers the same “high” at twice the intensity of the Congo Black.  But, this is a strain that may also fail miserably for some users.  Fans of Indica’s strong mind and body numbing effects may be disappointed with the Congo strain effects.  BC Organic Creek Congo delivers a clear refreshing energy filled optimism with an African sativa landrace twist to the experience.

THC:  18.536% THC

The Number 1 complain is the Price.   There is an Art to Pricing.   Beyond $16 a gram, the expected experience can only be satisfied if the producer soak the flowers in THC oil and sprinkle kief all over it.  There is significant push back on pricing above $12 to $13 a gram defined by our benchmarks Broken Coast and Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp.  There is very little market support for $16 a gram cannabis outside of novelty purchases because there are some really good choices at much lower prices.   Would we buy this again?  Yes at lower price and higher volume offering.

On an investment note, obviously, the Aurora/WMMC non-compete clause has expired and an ex-WMMC founder has emerged as Simply Bare.   Simply Bare uses living soil organic growing techniques like WMMC and TGOD.   Simply Bare’s last financing was at $2.70 for $8.5 million with an attached warrant exercisable at $3.80.  Lead by Desjardins Capital Markets, Simply Bare’s banking choice was interesting with someone not known in the cannabis financing circle.  It is good not to follow the crowd.  Well done!
