Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” Candyland, a gold medalist of the 2012 KushCon, is a sativa-dominant hybrid bred from Granddaddy Purple and Bay Platinum Cookies. Golden hairs weave through Candyland’s thick coat of sugar-like trichomes and highlight the compact, camouflage-colored buds. This strain grows well indoors and out, and patients turn to Candyland when trying to moderate pain, muscle tension, and sour moods. Candyland offers uplifting and stimulating effects, making it a perfect strain for social gatherings or creative pastimes. ”
From the OCS website, ” Houndstooth is a sweet, spicy and citrusy sativa-dominant strain from Tweed with medium THC potency. Greenhouse-grown Houndstooth from Tweed is a sativa-dominant strain with medium THC potency. Its buds have a purple hue and a complex aroma created by a terpene profile that includes myrcene (earthy), beta-caryophyllene (clove-like) and alpha-pinene (piney). ”
Candyland anyone?
These sweet cannabis strain names like Candyland, Wedding Cake, Wedding Crasher, Wedding Gelato … just makes us salivate. Houndstooth aka Candyland by Tweed is a strain we have been meaning to review. Packaged on February 4, 2020, Houndstooth came in at 22.6% THC cost $32.95 for 3.5 grams had an exotic spicy citrus scent. Our test amount was 0.26 grams.
The “high” is an uplifting happy vibrant and cerebral experience. After inhalation, an emerging sense of excitement and an outward bound optimism with increasing energy starts the journey to Candyland. At 22.7% THC, the “high” effects are served with big time dilations and a healthy dose of disorientation. Between the 20 and 30 minute mark, we fully enter into a sweet delicious vibrant life full of sunshine and optimism. The first hour goes by quickly.
We like Candyland by Tweed because it delivers a forceful strong “high” effect. There is no denying being “under the influence.” But, Houndstooth is missing something … creative tsunami waves? crushing euphoria? Nevertheless, we did really enjoy Houndstooth despite our expectations.
Activity pairing for this strain should include productivity. Dosage dependent, Candyland can be weaponized to get both physical and mental chores done. Armed with happiness and creativity, we can mobilize and change the world. But, this strain is also great for socializing and partying. Who doesn’t like Candyland?
Conclusion
Houndstooth aka Candyland by Tweed
Houndstooth aka Candyland by Tweed delivers a strong performance on effects and performed poorly on taste and visual appeal. We have had much better rendition of Candyland, which were pricer. At a $118 for 15 grams, however, Houndstooth delivers a competitive priced product.
THC: 22.6%
Quality: 7.9
Intensity: 8.0
Duration: 8.0
Total: 8.0
Cost: $32.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? Yes. The 15 grams offering is priced at $236 an ounce price equivalence, which is a very fair pricing.
On an investment note, Tweed (Canopy) is increasing their higher volume offerings. Flushed with cash, Canopy can afford to lose money for at least a couple more years. Canopy products are decent on effects but terrible on taste and visual appeal. It appears the only “Pop” event for Canopy’s stock is US Federal cannabis legalization, which they believe will happen by 2022. We wish they focus more on producing and delivering great products rather than investment banking.
