Strain Integrity
From the OCS website, ” Kingsway Dayshift is a high-THC sativa-dominant strain from Captain Krypt and 91 Chemdawg lineage. Dayshift is citrusy and fruity, rich in limonene and myrcene. The buds are light green with light orange hairs and are coated in trichomes. ”
According to Leafly, ” Much like many other members of the Chemdog line, the origins of Chemdog 91 are shrouded in mystery. Rumor has it that the lineage was first cultivated by the illustrious East Coast breeder who also goes by the name of Chemdog, and some speculate it descends from a Thai landrace strain. Chemdog 91 is thought to be an offshoot of the original Chemdog strain, and the numerical addition of “91” is believed to reference the year the strain first came into existence.
Some growers believe Chemdog 91 to be a cross between Chemdog and Skunk, which may explain its particularly pungent aroma. In true family spirit, this hybrid has a very strong diesel smell with a piney-lemon aftertaste. Most Chemdog 91 crops tend to lean sativa, though you may find indica variants on some dispensary and retail shelves. Consumers should expect a cerebral buzz from this strain. ”
Note: There is a strong possibility Dayshift is OG Melon based on the linage description.
A new Aurora Brand
Kingsway is a new Brand by Aurora. Dayshift is a sativa strain by Kingsway with 18.2% THC cost $30.10 for 3.5 grams packaged on March 26, 2020, and smelling exotically citrus spiced.
The “high” is immediately engaging as our minds expand like a WiFi signal. We could feel time slipping as we inhale and our sense extends beyond the normal parameters. There’s euphoria, strong cerebral stimulation, debilitating time dilation and memory without discipline. We are impressed, Aurora. We should have known because the buds were sticky with a very nice scent like Aurora’s OG Melon but with an exotic citrus spice in the background. On expectations, to be honest, we were expecting the worse. Surprise!
There is a good body vibe happening with a smooth happy euphoric cerebral flow and ample energy to procreate. In psychology, research have shown that if we initially don’t like someone and then they did something to change our minds, we will like that person more than some one we liked immediately. We think there is a bit of that effect happening here to us because we are really liking this “high,” maybe more than we should?
Activity pairing is best for something light in mental and physical demands. There’s strong disorientation with time dilation and short term memory outages means doing less is more.
Conclusion
Dayshift by Kingsway (Aurora)
Creating new Brands as a way to obfuscate reality is a growing trend by the major LPs. Kingsway is a new Brand from Aurora and we like Dayshift, a vibrantly intense sativa strain. While we believe Dayshift is OG Melon, we are uncertain because the OG Melon is a creeper and Dayshift is more like an express Train. We definitely recommend trying.
THC: 18.2%
Quality: 8.1
Intensity: 8.0
Duration: 8.1
Total: 8.1
Cost: $30.10 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? This question is becoming more difficult to answer because there are so many alternative options today. This was very enjoyable but compared to Aurora’s Daily Special Sativa at $125 for 28 grams, or $4.46 a gram compared to $8.60 a gram for Dayshift?
On an investment note, Aurora recently did a 1 for 12 reverse stock split, which meant every 12 shares owned is replaced with 1 share. The net effect is to increase the share price so they can stay listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Hexo is in the same position with the New York Stock Exchange and we may see a reverse share split as the share price struggle to stay above $1.00.
