Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” Meet Headband, the love-child of cannabis’ power couple, OG Kush and Sour Diesel. The smooth, creamy smoke is accented by flavors of lemons and diesel while the long-lasting effects are great for painrelief, helping you to relax, and to combat elevated stress levels. Many report that the effects create a slight pressure around the crown of their head and feels as though they are wearing a headband. The effects have been known to come on slow, so pace yourself with this potent hybrid. ”
From the OCS website, ” Headband is a sativa-dominant hybrid of OG Kush and Sour Diesel from High Tide in southern Ontario. Its buds are compact and relatively uniform, and its terpenes include linalool (which is also in lavender), myrcene (commonly found in mango and hops), pinene (in many herbs, such as rosemary, basil and dill) and limonene (also found in juniper). ”
Euphoria is the game
One of our very first review was High Tide’s Ghost Train Haze. A year and a half later, this is our second review of High Tide. Packaged April 20, 2020, Headband by High Tide with 18.36% THC cost $28.50 with a mildly unpleasant citrus odour.
The “high” is euphoric starting slowly with the inhalation. The effects come on steadily over the first 15 minutes starting with a growing euphoria, a medium strength energy boost, upper body physical lift sensation around the head (no head banding effect) and strong time dilations paired with creative curiosities were very entertaining. Twenty minutes vanished with a snap of our fingers. We have entered the Twilight Zone.
After an hour, the “high” decline was a noticeable step down towards normality. Unlike a Broken Coast Quadra with a fuller spectrum effect and longer “high” experience profile, Headband by High Tide has a less intense spectrum profile and the decline is earlier delivering a shorter experience. But, Headband by High Tide is $20 cheaper.
In our other review protocols like shopping and walking, Headband by High Tide performed much more modestly. In our walking review, the first half hour was particularly difficult as the sedation effect increased we became more lethargic making walking more challenging. After half an hour as the sedation subsided, we felt more energy and the walk became more enjoyable. Headband by High Tide is a very functional “high” and shopping was fun and a breeze.
Activity pairing should avoid strenuous type of activities like walking, or shopping. Stereotypically, Indica are best for doing nothing. We think that is the best activity for the Headband strain.
Conclusion
Headband by High Tide
While writing and researching High Tide, we found Wayland, High Tide’s parent, bankrupt! Maricann’s assets related to High Tide production was sold to Ring International Holding AG, which is the good news. At $28.50 for 3.5 grams, this is a relatively cheap product. If you haven’t tried Headband by High Tide, it is not over priced and there is a decent “high.”
THC: 18.36%
Quality: 7.8
Intensity: 8.0
Duration: 7.6
Total: 7.8
Cost: $28.50 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? No. The legal cannabis market is raining potent volume discounted cannabis. Our next few reviews are on larger volumes discounted strains from top tier producers. The legal world of cannabis is changing fast and it points to high potency and low cost. Under new management, we will see what the next iteration of High Tide looks like.
On an investment note, it appears we are getting new ownership and professional operators to run High Tide production. Ring International Holdings is a professional merchant banking firm with ownership and operating investments in a variety of industry. Merchant bankers are people who put their money where their mouth is. This is an interesting and refreshing breath of fresh air. We are excited for High Tide’s future.
