Strain Integrity
From the OCS website, ” The Batch offers quality assorted strains of dried whole flower cannabis. The cannabis flower selected for The Batch is chosen from a variety of cultivars to deliver a consistent THC potency in the medium to medium-low potency range (10 – 15.9% THC) and 0-2% CBD levels while delivering unique flavours and aroma profiles from lot to lot. ”
Note: This is the first product we have purchased that is Hybrid, Indica and Sativa and just plain unidentified. The buds look like they are all from one strain because of the similar bud structure.
Tilray’s value cannabis
The Batch producing a product call The Batch was packaged on February 12, 2020, about 6 months before our purchase, cost $23.95 for 3.5 grams with 14.6% THC . There’s a faint scent of citrus spice. Our test amount was 0.26 grams.
The “high” is a fast accelerant to a heady sativa euphoria buzz. There is a wakefulness energetic mental disposition with a creative drive. There is an immediate sense of satisfaction from the “high.” At the ten minute mark, the “high” a steady low medium intensity with a pleasant happy vibe held steadily for the next hour, which was great. There’s medium time dilation and minor memory outages to remind us we are “high.”
At the hour mark, the Batch’s “high” is a steady low level intensity of euphoria, creativity and happiness. At the 90 minute mark, we touch down for a soft landing feeling relaxed. At two and a half hour mark, we tried some Re-Up CTRQ to compare and the intensity and effects were very similar indicating they are from the same genre … sativa.
Activity pairing is best for getting motivated to do laundry, mow the lawn or clean out the closet. The Batch does give a light energy pickup with a bit of euphoria creativity and happiness, which is perfect for getting boring chores done with a smile.
Conclusion
The Batch by The Batch (Tilray)
With every LP putting a value cannabis brand on the market, Tilray’s value cannabis brand is The Batch with The Batch … not sure if it’s a play on name or just poor creativity, which would be ironic for a cannabis company. The Batch’s effects are very competitive with Re-Up CTRQ, which is 36% cheaper. Opps.
THC: 14.6% THC
Quality: 7.4
Intensity: 7.4
Duration: 7.4
Total: 7.4
Cost: $23.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? No. Since our review starts with “Strain Integrity” the lack of strain integrity is unappealing. The mix-salad approach using a variety of cultivars feels haphazardly planned. There are better and cheaper options available. Any Good Supply, Daily Special, Original Stash, Twd., Grasslands, Hexo and Redecan to name a few, will provide better value and effects.
On an investment note, we are getting the sense Tilray is in free fall. Privateer (Tilray’s major investor) merged their private portfolio into Tilray in return for Tilray’s stock. This encumbers Tilray with a bunch of under performing assets like Leafly to provide Privateer investors an exit creating a huge stock for sale overhang for Tilray. We think there maybe a case here for “oppression of minority shareholders?” Watching Tilray is like watching a trainwreck in slow motion.
