According to Leafly, ” Orange Hill Special is a select cross from the Orange Skunk family. Bred by Dutch Passion Seed Company, Orange Hill Special was developed over six generations by blending the genetics from Orange Bud and California Orange into a balanced hybrid. Known for its bright orange pistils and citrus flavors, Orange Hill Special triggers a cerebral buzz that is equalized by relaxing body effects. ”
From Royal City Cannabis Co., ” The Royal City Orange Hill Special was selected from seed due to its unique tangerine lemon aroma, sativa dominant traits and classic emerald green and orange colours.
Its strong THC potency potential paired with its pungent spicy lemon citrus terpene profile (>1.5% terpene) gives the RC Orange Hill Special a satisfying depth. The RC Orange Hill Special is grown indoor to maturity, hang dried and processed by hand to ensure the passion of our growers translates into high grade flowers for our customers. Following a multi-week cure they are packaged by hand with a humidity pack to preserve our desired moisture content.
The RC Orange Hill Special comes from an Orange Bud x Californian Orange cross and expresses fresh floral citrus (Terpinolene, Nerolidol) with sweet woody spice (beta-Caryophyllene). ”

The “high” starts with a steady euphoric rise in the inhalation session. Most of the “action” is on the upper half of the body with lighter shoulder feel and a buzzing head. Ten minutes into the session, the mind is getting busier and more tranquil body effects. Time slows down as the 15 minute mark approaches feeling increasing good vibes as our reality transform to a World of possibilities …. At the 20 minute mark, we have full ignition as da Magic Carpet arrives. This is an Indica?
In real world environment, the “high” creates an Alice in Wonderland feel as we floated from Point A to Point B. We missed all the effects of our recording session as we travelled 5 km over an hour. The immersiveness of the “high” left us with a faint memory of a very pleasant euphoric travelling experience. When we consume cannabis without recoding the “high,” it is more difficult to differentiate between strains. For this reason, there’s a lot of cannabis users believing there are no differences between strains. We can see their point of view. But, the Devil is in the details.
One hour flew by in our recording session just like our real life review protocol traveling while “high.” The combination of time dilation, memory incoherence, dreamy creative encapsulation flowing with goodwill rips through time leaving nothing but a very pleasant memory. This Orange Hill Special gives a unique blend of sativa and indica effects similar to the genre of a Jean Guy, Blue Dream or Strawberry Ice from our last review. It’s a sativa with strong indica overtones without the sedation effects.
Activity pairing works well for evening activities. We find this genre to be very effective in diffusing stress. Accordingly, this is a nice strain to unwind with after a hard day.
RC Orange Hill Special by Royal City Cannabis Co.
When we review a strain, we do not read what to expect from the strain. We have not tried Orange Hill Special and after our review we compared it to Leafly and “Viola” they are identical. Sometimes, we wonder if we are on the right track. The RC Orange Hill Special by Royal City Cannabis is an interesting new strain for the curious cannabis consumer.
Cost: $32.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? Yes. Maybe. We are suffering from decision paralysis with so many options. We did really enjoy the RC Orange Hill Special and it is the first time we tried this strain. At a minimum, we think it is worth trying at least once to expand our strain horizon, which is priceless.
On an investment note, Royal City Cannabis Co., is an employee owned craft grower from Guelph. We are very excited to see an employee owned LP. The month of August was another good month for cannabis sale reaching $245 million. The health of the Canadian legal cannabis market is improving.
