Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” If you’re a fan of strong old-school Skunk varieties with bumper harvests then this is a perfect choice. The Edge is a sativa dominant (75% sativa, 25% indica) variety that delivers heavy harvests of top quality cannabis with a strong Shiva aroma which will remind you of the good old days. THC levels of 17% are typical, this is a powerful variety. The Edge has a Skunk-appearance, but with slightly more stretch. ….
The Edge delivers a powerful and uplifting high which transitions into a strong stone. This is a robust variety which performs well even for less experienced growers and will tolerate conditions which are not always ideal. Whichever way you grow The Edge you should get a heavy crop of quality pot …. ”
From Muskoka Grown, ” The Edge is a classic, sativa dominant Skunk #1 hybrid. Reminding you of the good old days, this mid-range variety offers scents of strong dill with subtle notes of fresh mulch and citrus. The forest-coloured, large buds have a skunk-appearance, dusted with crystal-like trichomes and orange pistils. The strong combination of terpenes results in intense flavours and aromas. ”
On “The Edge?”
The Edge by Muskoka packaged on September 25, 2020, cost $29.95 for 3.5 grams came with 17.8% THC and a very unremarkable faint scent of hay, or grass, which is very old school. Yep. Out test amount was 0.26 grams.
The “high” starts slowly and accelerates a few minutes after the end of the inhalation session. Euphoria is the key expression. Ten minutes into the session, the lift is strong upper body effect and mental revitalization clearing out the cobwebs. There is a euphoric forcefulness as time misbehaves with a calming effect. Hrm … “The Edge?” This “high” is a very smooth calming euphoria. Half an hour later, the expressions were equal parts of euphoria, blissfulness, creativeness and happiness, which gave an unremarkable impression.
This is turning out to be an interesting review because this is a very Indica strain to us and it is a 75/25 Sativa strain. The exact genetics are in the general direction of Afghanistan indica, Mexican sativa and Colombian sativa. Forty five minutes into the session, we could feel a bit of lethargicness getting tranquilized. The “high” continues for about two hours leaving us with a relaxed ending.
Activity pairing is best for the evenings time slots. The Edge an old school “high” that is best for light socializing and getting the dull mind numbing chores done in the evenings?
Conclusion
The Edge by Muskoka Grown
The Edge is not “Edgy” but a very calm euphoric “high.” Old school “highs” are unidimensional experiences typically populated with copious amount of euphoria. Today’s genetics bring powerful immersive expressions like creativity fireworks, sparkling optimism and overflowing happiness emanating from a euphoric consciousness. Old school “high” do not bring an orchestral symphony of “high” expressions to turn us into supernatural beings. But, sometimes? maybe an old school “high” is what we need?
THC: 17.8%
Quality: 7.6
Intensity: 7.6
Duration: 7.8
Total: 7.67
Cost: $32.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? No. There are too many good alternatives for the money. The Edge is a sativa with indica overtones like a calming blissfulness on top of a vibrant outlook. While we were very impressed with Muskoka Grown Glueberry OG, The Edge was not as impressive.
On an investment note, is there something going on between Canada and the US legal cannabis infrastructure? US cannabis business seems to be more profitable. Is this because Canada is over regulated? You have to be licensed to grow. You have to be licensed to sell. So theoretically, you can grow but cannot sell? Is that crazy? Licensed craft growers and micro growers should be able to sell directly to retailers is the first right step to a healthier industry?
