Strain Integrity

According to Leafly, ” First bred by Rare Dankness, Ghost Train Haze is a sativa cross of Ghost OG and Neville’s Wreck. Unlike typical sativas, Ghost Train Haze grows dense buds blanketed in white, crystal-capped trichomes. With a sour citrus and floral aroma, Ghost Train Haze delivers a potent dose of THC to knock out pain, depression, and appetite loss, but patients prone to anxiety should steer clear of this heavy-hitter. Low doses are conducive to concentration and creativity, but you may notice some cerebral haziness as you smoke more.

From the OCS website, ” Ghost Train Haze is a heavy-hitting sativa known for its fluffy, bright green buds and dense, frosty trichome coverage.

Expect to be hit by this runaway train of sour citrus and floral aromas, derived from the dominant terpinolene and complementary pinene, ocimene and caryophyllene. UP takes extra care and attention during cultivation and post-harvest to ensure you get the healthy and fresh terpenes you expect from this cerebral strain.

Its legendary genetics are known for potency, so conduct yourself accordingly. That was a train pun.

Note:  UP20 stands for over 20% THC.

Meridian relaunched

Ghost Train Haze UP20 previously known as the Meridian by UP is a relaunched by new owner Hexo.  With 21.26% THC and a sweet floral slightly citrus scent, this Ghost Train Haze UP20 cost $29.95 compared to the original Meridian price of $46.45 for 3.5 grams.  In addition to the lower cost, this version comes with a few percentage more THC.  Our test amount was 0.26 grams.

The “high” starts with a recalibration of our senses as we became more “Straight.”  Amusingly, we noticed our grasp of reality for a brief moment was better than being straight.  We have achieved a super state of normality for a brief moment before euphoria enters.  Or, we were “Stoned” immediately.   Ghost Train Haze is one of those classic “Wake & Bake” strains.   Ten minutes into the session, the train has left the station as we buckle up.  And, it’s kinda of noisy with rapid firing of the cerebral synapses.  Ultra Sour and Ghost Train Haze have much in common.  This is not going to be a calm ride.

Lucky us! this is another very enjoyable review experience.  Twenty minutes into the session, time dilation, memory disassociations, buoyant uplifting lightness of being and an inquisitive frame of mind can be a bit debilitating.  The energy delivery may be equal to 2 or 3 cups of coffee?   This is a classic Ghost Train Haze delivered with a smile.  As we approach the hour mark, the drop in intensity was barely noticeable.  The 21.26% THC powers the “high” easily pass the two hour mark.

Activity pairing for this strain can cover both day and evening time slots.  The strong energy can be used to reenergize anytime.  With the right dosing, this Ghost Train Haze can really shine as a productivity tool.

THC:  21.26%

Quality:  8.1

Intensity:  8.2

Duration:  8.0

Total:  8.1

Cost:  $29.95 for 3.5 grams

Would we buy this again?  Yes, if we want a decent affordable Ghost Train Haze.  The pricing in the Canadian legal cannabis market, however, has tilted dramatically to fire sale pricing making  it a lot more difficult in our buying decisions.   Few can resist the value offerings of a $140 an ounce with high THC content.

On an investment note, Hexo acquired Newstrike Brand Ltd. (UP) in a $260 million deal on May 2019.  On June 2020, Hexo sold a part of the acquired facility from Newstrike for $10.6 million, a painful experience for shareholders.  At least, Hexo is trying really hard to fix their mistakes as they were the first LP to bring large format discount cannabis and hashish to the Canadian legal cannabis market.  And. this Ghost Train Haze UP20 looks good.
