Strain Integrity

From Papa’s Herbs, ” Papa’s Exodus Cheese is the original clone-only strain that originated in Southern England. Though the identity of the original grower is still debated, at some point in the early 90s the cannabis lifestyle activists based in Luton calling themselves Exodus acquired some clones of Cheese and from there it rapidly became one of the most popular and sought after varieties in the UK. Now available across Ontario. Come to Papa.

According to Leafly, ” Generally known as simply “Cheese” or “UK Cheese,” Exodus Cheese is the original clone-only strain that originated in Southern England sometime during the late 1980s or early 90s. Said to be grown from a packet of Sensi Seeds Skunk #1, it is known for its high yields, potency and distinct, overwhelmingly strong cheese-like odor. Though the identity of the original grower is still debated, at some point in the early 90s the cannabis lifestyle activists based in Luton calling themselves Exodus acquired some clones of Cheese and from there it rapidly became one of the most popular and sought after varieties in the UK. Since then many breeders have created seed lines using Cheese, while the original clone is still found in grow rooms around the globe.

Note:  It appears Papa’s Herbs definition is exactly the same as Leafly.  Our appetite has been suitably aroused.

Exodus Cheese in review

Papa’s Sativa aka Exodus Chees by Papa’s Herbs cost $23.95 for 3.5 grams with 17.56% THC and a faint floral musky scent.  Our test amount was 0.26 grams.

The “high” comes on with a forceful mental jolt.  “Not bad at all” was the first thought that comes to mind.  Ten fast minutes into the session, we were fully engaged in a hypnotic Cheese trance.   There is a cloak of mental blissfulness over the cerebral creativeness with Papa’s Sativa, which is what UK Cheese is like.  For the price, this is decent stuff.

Our initial motivation for this review was to review a US cannabis product.  Quickly upon inspection of the product package, we discovered its grown by Aphria with a US branding.  We were extremely disappointed.  Suffering from a bad case of cannabis envy, we really would like to try some of the fine California herbs we spy like the 34.5% THC GMO Strain?   Forty five minutes into the session, we detected the intensity drop.

In real world testing on a shopping trip, the “high” was forceful but functional.  Other than wandering aimlessly for brief moments in the first half hour, the shopping trip was an Alice in Wonderland experience making the most mundane task magical.

Activity pairing would be best for the later part of the day time slots because of the heavier characteristics of the “high.”   Papa’s Sativa is a hybrid sativa with indica hypnotisms and blissfulness.  We believe this would be great for socializing in a post-pandemic world.

Conclusion

Papa’s Sativa (Exodus Cheese) by Papa’s Herbs (Aphria)

Papa’s Sativa by Papa’s Herb, a US based cannabis Brand, is produced and sold as an Aphria’s Brand in Canada.  The price and quality is similar to the Good Supply brand.  We are, however, deeply disappointed this Exodus Cheese is grown in Canada and not in the US.  For those who want to try Exodus Cheese, this is a decent rendition and moderately priced.

THC:  17.56%

Quality:  7.8

Intensity:  8.0

Duration:  8.0

Total:  7.9

Cost:  $23.95 for 3.5 grams

Would we buy this again?  Yes.  We believe we got good value for our dollar, which is a point of contention here.  Papa’s Sativa delivered similar intensity and effects like other Good Supply products, which were usually decent.  “Decent” is the operative word for this review.

On an investment note, we were hoping to see some Humboldt, California, legendary cannabis from Papa’s Herbs but we got some Exodus Cheese grown at Aphria Diamond 1.3 million sq. ft. facility in Leamington, Ontario.  Will we ever see natively grown cannabis imported from California?  Jamaica? or anywhere else?  Can we really be competitive growing cannabis in negative 20C environment? These must be sobering thoughts for an investor in Canadian cannabis production?
