From the OCS website, ” California Dreaming contains our highest grown level of THC. This flower is hand groomed, from seed-to-sale, and grown under natural sunlight with the assistance of LED lights. This indica-dominant flower is derived from flowers known as Hash Plant and Northern Lights. The earthy combination of alpha pinene and beta pinene brings you the sweet smell of pine trees. While pinene is the most widely encountered terpene in nature, underneath the earthy aroma is a hint of spice brought on by beta caryophyllene. California Dreaming is grown in the heart of Niagara’s world renown grape and wine country. At Dykstra Greenhouses we take great care in hand grooming our flower to bring you our best product. ”
According to Leafly on Hash Plant, ” One of Sensi Seeds’s classics, Hash Plant stays compact during her extra-short flowering time. Her tight, resin-drenched flower clusters develop a brittle surface when dried and give off a deep, rich Afghani aroma that’s undercut with a hint of hashish. When consumed, her dominant flavor is the spicy-sharp bite of smouldering resin glands. The instant vaporization of those layers of sparkling trichomes accelerates Hash Plant’s rapid, blissful and breathtakingly powerful body-stone. This 90% indica is the product of careful genetic selection, a process that involved matching the mysterious Hash Plant original from the U.S. with Northern Lights. ”
On Northern Lights, ” Northern Lights is an indica marijuana strain made by crossing Afghani with Thai. Northern Lights produces euphoric effects that settle in firmly throughout the body, relaxing muscles and easing the mind. Consumers say this strain has a pungently sweet and spicy flavor profile that is smooth on the exhale…. ”
Enjoyable California vibes
California Dreamin by Dykstra Greenhouse packaged on January 25, 2021, cost $34.95 for 3.5 grams with 18.63% THC and a faint earthy sweet floral with a hint of hay scent. Our test amount was 0.26 grams.
The “high” starts after inhalation with a busy noisy euphoria engaging our senses. Ten minute later, a light sense of being and awareness radiates with joy as California Dreaming kicks into action. There’s some body “high” and blissfulness with a healthy serving of creativity, time dilation and memory disarray. This is a balance hybrid with good expressions from both sativa and Indica. California Dreamin delivered a 50/50 balance hybrid “high.”
Dykstra Greenhouse produce products with the terrifying faint scent of “hay.” The trim with large sugar leaves attached made the product look unappealing. But, the “high” has a kick and bite to it. Half an hour later, we are fully immersed in a radiant world. As we review the genetics, we were surprised California Dreaming appears to be a full blown Indica genetics with a very enjoyable Thai Sativa like “high” for a solid two hours. We did a few extra sessions to confirm California Dreaming effects are replicable.
Activity pairing is best for the later part of the day time slots. California Dreaming can work as an energy pickup with an effervescent euphoria but after two hours there will be some body fatigue. Plan accordingly.
California Dreaming by Dykstra Greenhouse
California Dreaming by Dykstra Greenhouse is a solid vibrant intense Indica representation of the wake and bake “high” genre. Initially, the faint scent of “hay” triggered the alarm bells but after numerous test sessions, California Dreaming delivered every time. Every test session was a solid “Wake & Bake.” It actually reminded us of Thai weed.
Cost: $34.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? Maybe. It is time to move to higher volume offerings. Seriously, Dykstra Greenhouse is producing some good cannabis. We liked their Lemon Pepper Spice and this California Dreaming also delivers a memorable experience. Just forget we ever mention the faint scent of “Hay.”
On an investment note, this is another hybrid greenhouse grown with LEDs assist. Hrm … we think hybrid greenhouse produce less potent cannabis. All the top craft growers like Msiku, Truro, Carmel and Highland Grow are all old school gangster style growing with no sunlight. Should an investor consider how cannabis is grown before they invest? While we believe hybrid is future, it may take sometime to dial in this newer growing technique. Dykstra, you are doing a great job.
