Strain Integrity
According to Leafly, ” OG Kush, also known as “Premium OG Kush,” was first cultivated in Florida in the early ‘90s when a strain from Northern California was supposedly crossed with Chemdawg, Lemon Thai and a Hindu Kush plant from Amsterdam. The result was a hybrid with a unique terpene profile that boasts a complex aroma with notes of fuel, skunk, and spice. OG Kush should smell like lemon-pine-fuel with a high-THC, mixed head and body effect. It’s often enjoyed in the back half of the day to ease stress. ”
From the OCS website, ” ‘90s OG Kush from Table Top is a classic indica strain with a very strong THC potency potential and notes of fuel, skunk and spice (dang). Flavour profile courtesy of the terpenes known as caryophyllene, myrcene and humulene. Let the debate rage on as to where this strain originated, but it’s been a crowd pleaser since the ‘90s so why not keep a good thing going? Oh, and it’s grown in a greenhouse with plenty of natural sunlight. ‘90s OG Kush. It’s got legs. ”
Old School “High?”
90’s OG Kush by Table Top (BZAM) packaged on November 4, 2020, cost $34.95 for 3.5 grams with 19.42% THC and a very faint floral earthy spice scent. Out test amount was 0.26 grams.
The “high” starts with a light euphoric head buzz and a sense of well being. After inhalation, the “high” increase steadily in intensity with cerebral and joyfulness unfolding over the first ten minutes. Blissful energy powers up to heighten our cognitive senses. At the 20 minute mark, 90’s OG Kush delivered a functional euphoric creative joyful ambiance. Table Top is BZAM’s value-tier products.
Past the first hour, 90’s OG Kush by Table Top’s “high” continues unabated chugging along at medium intensity. Given peak intensity was a medium intensity “high,” the drop in intensity was not really noticeable, which was a good side effect? Our expectations may be too “high?” for BZAM? This is not the $34.95 of BZAM goodness we are accustomed to from Ness. Can you tell we are disappointed? Expectation is everything?
Activity pairing is great for a quick functional pickup “high.” We would use 90’s OG Kush by Table Top on a slow lazy afternoon and we have nothing else.
Conclusion
90’s OG Kush by Table Top (BZAM)
In the 90’s, we were smoking BC Buds, or Hydro, that were at least 2X to 3X stronger than this. Time Warp, the legendary BC outdoor grown strain, came in the early 90s. Maybe, this does reminds some of us of the 90s?
THC: 19.42%
Quality: 7.8
Intensity: 7.7
Duration: 8.0
Total: 7.83
Cost: $34.95 for 3.5 grams
Would we buy this again? No. Given this is the same price as the Ness products, which are much better, we recommend buying Ness over Table Top products. Table Top, BZAM’s “value” product offering is missing the “value” portion.
On an investment note, Sundial is using their value brands as the dumping ground for their lower THC premium cannabis, which are excellent deals. Aurora is just dumping everything into their Daily Specials and often with over 20% THC. This 90’s OG Kush rendition by BZAM would be very mediocre in this value market.
