There are basically two types of Extraction; Solvent, or Solventless.
Solvents used are Butane, Propane, Ethanol or Carbon Dioxide. Solventless extraction uses only ice water.
Each extraction method produces Unique “high” profiles.
Solvent extracted concentrates are typically “Racy” because that is what Pure THC delivers. The effectiveness of solvent extraction is 99% effective. Every THC molecules gets targeted and gets sucked out. That is the Molesting and Raping of every single THC molecule from the Organic material. THC percentages from Solvent will always be higher than Solventless concentrates. In addition, the Solvents can destroy the fragile terpenes and as a result there is No Bliss from Indica resin … unless you add terpenes back, which is what some of them do.
Solventless extraction is 100% Pure virgin THC and Terpenes. These molecules are untouched by chemicals. The “high” profile is more similar to the Flower. Solventless extraction is less efficient and THC percentages are lower in the 60% to 70% instead of the 80% to 90% THC from solvent concentrates. That is why Rosin is also more expensive.
There is a Place for both types of concentrates. Solvent extract like live resin is great for the euphoric espresso effect and is a favourite here after 8 PM for video gaming, or doing work. Rosin is for that Special “high” to really Enjoy life.
The reason why you can’t tell the difference between Strains is most likely they are solvent extracted in the form of Resin, Diamonds, or simply Distillates. And, if it is a Resin, it is BHO extracted.
